Ladybug Number Match with Fruit Cups
In advance, collect 12 plastic cups from individual serving foods such
as pineapple or applesauce. Clean and dry the cups. Spray paint them with red spray paint that adheres to plastic. Make sure to purchase the kind that adheres to plastic. After the cups are dry, hot glue a large pompom to the top to make a head. Take a sharpie marker and draw a line down
the center. Don't put any spots on the first ladybug, one on the next
and continue until the last ladybug has twelve spots.
Now, print, cut and laminate the pages. Make ladybugs using fruit cups.
Have the children count the spots on the ladybug and put them on the leaf with the corresponding number. The pages are available in both
black and white and color. The one shown was the black and white
version printed on green construction paper.
If you are working with children who have a physical disability, this might
be a good activity for them to try. The cups are large and easier to hold than other manipulatives.
