Shadow Match Tool Fun
On a clear sunny day, lay out a piece of construction paper. Put a tool
on it. Set the paper outside in the sun or in a sunny window. Leave it
there for several days. Lift the tool and you will see that the paper
has faded. Laminate the construction paper. Do this for all of the tools
and you will have a shadow matching activity. Have the children pick
a piece of construction paper and lay the corresponding tool on the paper.
Plastic tools like the ones shown below work great for this activity.
You can take time to explain and discuss the fading process with the children. It makes a good science project. You can also take time to discuss with children that it is important to put their outside bikes and toys away so they don't get faded in the sun.
