Watching Tulips Grow

In the fall, take your children out and plant tulips.  Make sure you plant them
6" deep.  Take a photo of the child planting them.  If possible include Some  type of landmark in the photo, for example plant them near the flagpole so the children will identify where they planted them.
In the spring, the tulips will come up.  Again take a photo of the child.
Have the children cut the tulip and give it to their family.  Have the children
compare the photos of themselves.  How much did they grow
 over the time period.
In Iowa, the tulips always bloom over Mother's Day.  It is a perfect
present for Mom.  Take time now to mark your calendar for fall to remind yourself to plant tulips.

Here is an emergent reader that shows the cycle from planting to bloom.
