Fall Leaf Blowers
Print the page. Have the children cut out a leaf. Have them tape it
to a coffee stir stick. They are available at Wal-Mart near the drinking
straws in the paper product section. Have them slide the coffee stirrer
into the straw. Then have them blow on the opposite end of the straw.
The leaf will fly out of the straw.
To prevent the spread of germs take a sharpie marker and write the child's
name on the straw.
To make this activity more interesting, Make leaves out of different
weight of paper. Will the leaf still fly as far?
Add a math component by having the children measure how far the leaf flew. When scheduling, make sure to leave PLENTY of time for
experimenting and ask LOTS of questions.
