Monkey Subtraction/Addition
Print the adult monkeys and the baby monkeys. Cut them out and laminate them. The arm openings on the adult monkeys have to be cut open so that the tails can be hooked on the arms.
To play, hook the adult monkeys on the classroom coat hooks or on a string that has been strung in your classroom. Hook one of the baby
monkeys onto the mother's arm. Give the children the remaining monkeys.
Have them identify the number on the adult, then the number on the baby.
Have them make a subtraction sentence such as 10-5=. Now have them
complete the number sentence by hooking the monkey with the corresponding number on the adults other arm.
Now you can have another child come along and check the answers.
