Mouse Count Head Bands For Dramatic Play

It is recommended to use a hot glue gun to assemble these pieces.
Print the pattern page.  Cut the snake out of blue stiff felt.  This felt is available at Hobby Lobby
and Michaels.  Cut narrow strips of regular green and yellow felt. Glue them onto the snake along
with a wiggly eye.  Cut the ears from stiff gray felt.  Cut the ears from regular pink felt.  Glue the pink to the gray ears.  Purchase Cheap, narrow, fabric covered headbands.  The headbands that come in a pack of 6 for $1 at Dollar General are perfect.  Hot glue the snake to the headband.   If you refer to the pattern the glue only goes from line to line.  After it is attached, run a bead of glue
along the headband in front of the snake and in back of the snake to give the felt a little more stability.
Attach the mouse ears to another head band using the same procedure.  Make one snake
and ten mice headbands.
Now, have the children wear the headbands and retell the story.  You could use a wading pool
or blanket on the floor to represent the jar that the mice are kept it.

If you only have one child and still want to do this activity, just make the snake
headband.  Then purchase the mice that are designed to be cat toys.  Hide them around
your room and have the "snake" find the mice.
