Circle Time Fun Activity

This activity can be use for either your valentine or mail carrier theme.

This activity is designed to help with name recognition, estimation and counting.
Print envelop page.  Cut them apart.  On the front on the envelopes fill in the to and from section.  In the from section write the names of the children in your class.  In the to section write your name.  If you want to reuse the “envelopes”, laminate them.
At circle time, bring the envelopes along with a bag.  It can be clear…or brown paper. 
 Hold up one to the envelopes. Say-

A valentine(envelop) from _________. (let the children read the name in the from section)
A valentine(envelop) from _________. (let the children read the name in the from section)
(continue adding valentines…as many as you want)
Now say…
So many valentines(envelop), I can’t keep track.
Tell me how many valentines(envelop) are in my sack.

Now have the children guess how many valentines are in the sack. 
Stop and count out loud to see if they are right.
